Hiking Day Trip

We set off Saturday morning to find the Gorge de Diosso....and we were successful!

The Gorge is the "Grand Canyon" of the Republic of Congo.  It is located 23 km from Pointe Noire.

We took a short hike to find a picnic spot.

The boys were excited to get to use their new walking sticks.

We had a crew of kids...11 to be exact.

Picnic time!

Caleb really likes cheese.

19 people on the move again.

We earned our cold cokes.
Tree climbing is always a must.

We were tired and dirty at the end of the trip...a sure sign of success.

Congo

We arrived in Congo yesterday.  It is hard to describe the feeling of pulling into a new port.  Giddy, is the word that comes to mind.
Our first glimpse of Pointe Noire.

The pilot boat, it pulls up along side the ship.  Then the pilot jumps on to the ship and helps us steer safely into dock.

Don and Deyon Stephens watched as the ship pulled into port.

The Academy students made Congo's flag during craft time and brought them out to wave during the welcoming ceremony.

We are all excited to be in Congo and we cannot wait to get off the ship, meet new people, and explore new places!
